What We’re Looking Forward to Around the Triangle This Month
One of the things I love most about living in the Triangle is this:
There is always something happening.
And this time of year? It feels like the calendar fills up overnight, in the best possible way.
From Broadway performances and major concerts to food festivals, art events, and local favorites, May is one of those months that reminds you why so many people love calling Raleigh, Wake Forest, Durham, and the surrounding areas home.
If you’re looking for an excuse to get out, plan a date night, or simply enjoy everything this area has to offer, here are a few events worth adding to your calendar before the month gets away from us.
Don’t Miss Hamilton at DPAC
If you’ve been waiting for the right excuse to finally see Hamilton (or see it again), this is it.
The award-winning Broadway phenomenon officially arrives at DPAC beginning May 20 and runs through June 14, bringing one of the most talked-about productions of the last decade back to the Triangle. And if you know, you know, tickets tend to go quickly.
There’s something special about making a night of it:
Dinner in Durham. A Broadway show. A late-night drink downtown.
Honestly? One of my favorite kinds of Triangle evenings.
Pitbull Is Coming to Raleigh (Yes… Mr. Worldwide)
Whether you’re a longtime fan or simply there for the nostalgia, Pitbull takes the stage in Raleigh on May 19, with Lil Jon joining him for what will likely be one of the liveliest nights of the month.
Not every city gets this kind of entertainment lineup, and it’s one more reminder that living here means access to events people actually travel for.
Artsplosure Returns to Downtown Raleigh
If you love local art, live music, and spending the day wandering downtown, Artsplosure returns May 16–17.
This longtime Raleigh tradition transforms downtown into a vibrant mix of artists, performances, food vendors, and interactive experiences. It’s the kind of event where you can spend hours strolling without really having a plan, which, somehow, makes it even better.
Festival Season Is Officially Here
May might quietly be one of the best festival months in the Triangle.
Still coming up:
Got to Be NC Festival (May 15–17)
Think North Carolina fair food, local agriculture, rides, entertainment, and a little nostalgia at the State Fairgrounds. It has all the fun of a smaller fair—without the fall crowds.
Durham Greek Festival (May 16–17)
Amazing food, pastries, music, shopping, and cultural experiences that make for an unexpectedly fun weekend outing.
Animazement (May 22–24)
One of Raleigh’s biggest cultural conventions returns to downtown with art, music, cosplay, vendors, and Japanese pop culture experiences. Even if it’s outside your usual scene, it’s one of those events that brings incredible energy to the city.
Why I Love Sharing Things Like This
When people think about buying a home, they often focus on the house itself, and of course, that matters.
But one of the biggest things that shapes how much you love where you live?
The lifestyle around it.
The Friday night plans.
The concert you didn’t expect to love.
The Broadway show that turns into dinner downtown.
The neighborhood event that becomes a tradition.
That’s the part of living in the Triangle that’s hard to explain until you experience it.
And honestly? It’s one of the reasons I love helping people find not just a home, but the right place to build a life.
Final Thoughts
If your calendar has felt a little too routine lately, consider this your sign to plan something fun before the month is over.
Whether it’s Hamilton, a festival weekend, or finally saying yes to a spontaneous night out, there’s a lot happening around the Triangle right now.
And if you’re looking for a home that puts you closer to everything you love about living here, I’d love to help.
