Designing the Bathroom of Your Dreams
Have you been working on projects by updating your bedrooms, kitchen or other areas of your home? Now is a great time to design your bathroom to really tie your home together! With different options of using different tiles and finishes, adding a spacious walk in shower, or deciding over installing a large bathtub or not can lead you to designing the bathroom of your dreams!
Deciding on whether to install a bathtub or not really depends on the homeowner and the future sale of your home. While some find that they have many uses for a bathtub, others can find that it is simply a waste of space. Not installing a bathtub is beneficial when it comes to space because it can allow you to make room for other amenities such as an extra large walk in shower or “his and hers” sinks. Installing a bathtub is also adding on to the list of all the other things you need to clean in your house. On the other hand, placing a bathtub in your bathroom can have it’s perks in terms of relaxation. After a long day of work, who wouldn’t want to run a warm bath, add in some of your favorite scented bubble bath, sit back, relax and allow the tension of work leave your body? Installing a bathtub can also be beneficial to families with small children, making it easier to clean your child. There are many different types of bathtubs to select from such as freestanding tubs, claw-foot tubs, and bathtubs with many features such as jets! If you want to install a bathtub in your bathroom, you are bound to find the perfect one to fit your needs! If you don’t have a bathtub in your master bathroom, you may want to be sure to have a bathtub in another bathroom of your home, dependent on the style of the home, so it can accommodate different family types and age groups.
For couples and families, installing “his and her” sinks are a MUST when it comes to designing the layout of your bathroom! Having two sinks allows you and your significant other to cut down on the waiting time when getting ready for the day, or getting ready for bed. It can also allow for more cabinet space below where you can store all of your bathroom essentials and keep each other’s products separate from one another. Having two sinks can also be extremely helpful in a shared bathroom with kids for the same reason! This can cut down on waiting time to use the sink, and hopefully even prevent arguments about who is taking a long time to get ready.
Can you really go wrong with having a large walk-in shower? There are so many benefits for installing a walk-shower. One of them being how easy it is to clean them! The surfaces are flat limiting the amount of dirt build-up. By installing a glass door with your walk-in shower, you also don’t have to worry about the pesky shower curtain not getting in your way and the curtain hooks potentially rusting. A walk-in shower is also a lot easier to get in and out of and the chance of slipping could be significantly less. This is also a huge benefit if you or a family member have a mobility impairment because it is less of a hassle to get in and out of the shower. Without the standard tub-shower covered by a shower curtain, having a large walk-in shower can also make your bathroom appear more open to guests who come in!
A very important design aspect to consider when designing your bathroom is the endless possibilities of tiles and finishes to choose from. Deciding on the tile and color scheme of the bathroom will really set the tone for the atmosphere your bathroom will provide. There are so many options of tile to choose from and it all depends on what you think is best for the design you want! There is vinyl tile which is one of the easiest to install, there is ceramic and porcelain tile which is extremely durable, laminate tiles which are easy to clean, and so much more!! Choosing a color for your bathroom to go along with your choice of tile can drastically affect the feel of your bathroom. Colors such as whites, greys, beiges, and blues are staple colors when it comes to selecting paint for your bathroom. When choosing a color for your bathroom, try and go with something a little on the lighter side. For most homes, your bathroom is one of the smaller spaces in the house and painting it a lighter color can really help brighten up the room and make it seem a little more open and spacious.
