First Night Raleigh 2025:
Ringing in the New Year, Southern Lux Style
There’s nothing quite like New Year’s Eve in Raleigh, the energy downtown, the art, the music, the sparkle, and First Night Raleigh 2025 is set to bring all of that magic back again this December 31st.
Whether you’re new to the Triangle, celebrating with friends, or simply love being part of Raleigh’s vibrant community, First Night is one of the most cherished traditions to close out the year. And as someone who adores our city and all the ways it brings people together, I’m excited to share what makes this event such a special way to welcome 2026.
What Is First Night Raleigh?
First Night Raleigh is the city’s signature New Year’s Eve festival, a full day of performances, interactive art, kids’ activities, food, and live entertainment spread throughout downtown. From morning celebrations all the way to the countdown to midnight, it’s a celebration of creativity, culture, and connection.
It’s festive, walkable, family-friendly, and gives everyone the chance to enjoy Raleigh’s downtown charm in a totally unique way.
What You Can Expect This Year
While the full schedule is always released closer to the date, here are a few First Night favorites you can count on:
✨ The Acorn Drop Raleigh’s iconic version of the Times Square ball drop
🎨 Art installations & performances from local creatives
🎶 Live music and entertainment throughout the day
🍔 Food trucks and downtown dining to warm up between events
🎡 Rides, games, and activities perfect for a full day of fun
🎆 Fireworks to welcome the new year with a bang
Events typically begin in the afternoon, with Early Countdown celebrations for those who want to wrap up the fun before bedtime. Then the party continues into the night with concerts and the famous Acorn Drop at midnight.
Tips for Enjoying First Night Raleigh Like a Local
As someone who spends a lot of time exploring Raleigh’s neighborhoods and community events, here are a few simple ways to make the most of the celebration:
• Arrive early — Parking fills up quickly, and it’s always nice to have time to explore.
• Dress warm — December evenings downtown can be chilly, so layers are your best friend.
• Support local — Grab dinner or a warm drink at one of the amazing restaurants nearby.
• Plan your must-see events — There’s so much to do, so picking a few highlights helps.
• Bring your camera — The lights, the art, the fireworks… It’s all worth capturing!
