Raleigh, NC Ranks #1 for Hottest Real Estate Market, per U.S. News

One of the most exciting pieces of news to come out of U.S. News this past week was ranking Raleigh, North Carolina as number one in the Hottest Housing Markets in the U.S. This is wonderful news for homeowners, homebuyers, REALTORS®, and other members of the Raleigh community.. It also goes to show just how strong our local economy is here in The City Of Oaks – a testament to why our beloved hometown consistently ranks among the best places to live in North Carolina and the US as a whole!

The housing market is beginning to sizzle with improved mortgage rates, declining inflation and less risk of a recession looming. It’s time to get cooking! Whether it be robust demand for homes or plentiful financing options available now more than ever – the markets throughout America are heating up in all areas. Now’s definitely the chance to find out where you can make your real estate dreams come true.

So, how did Raleigh, NC end up as #1? Per the U.S. News website, “Because the U.S. News Housing Market Index incorporates so many varied data points, it provides a simple and comprehensive way to rank the covered metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) from shivering to scorching on a scale of 1-100.”

“With regional Housing Market Index totals ranging up to 71.7 versus a national value of 64.4, the following six MSAs are the hottest housing markets ranked from first to fifth, with the third highest a tie between Austin and Durham.”

  • Raleigh: 71.7
  • Denver: 67.5
  • (Tie) Austin: 67.3
  • (Tie) Durham: 67.3
  • Phoenix: 66.9
  • Richmond: 66.8

These popular housing markets have maintained their appeal despite the transitioning to post-pandemic life. Their popularity is most likely attributed, in part, to historically low mortgage rates and people’s newfound appreciation for more living space during pandemic lockdowns – all of which has now translated into sustained success!

The Raleigh MSA is a strong, dynamic market! Homeowners here have an affordable and manageable mortgage payment to income ratio. Plus, the area boasts low unemployment levels and a great balance of building permits to employment growth. What’s not to be excited about?!
