Sunflower Fields 2021 In The Triangle
The summer season is best known for it’s beautiful blooms, and we are so lucky to have not one, but TWO sunflower fields right here in the Raleigh area! Dorothea Dix Park and Hill Ridge Farms are two beautiful places where you can enjoy the sights of blooming sunflowers. Its the perfect summer activity to do with family and friends!
The City of Sunflowers is one of the most well known attractions of Dorothea Dix Park! Combined with its location at the North Carolina Museum of Art, you can experience over 8 acres of sunflowers. You are able to experience all 8 acres due to the greenway trail that connects the museum to the park! The City of Sunflowers started only 3 years ago and has been the perfect summer spot to have a picnic, host a photoshoot, or simply stroll around the outdoors with friends. What’s awesome about the planting of the sunflowers is that not only can it be used as an educational experience, but after the bloom Raleigh Water harvests them for biodiesel and educational purposes throughout the city! It also serves as a huge playground for bees and has played a big part in increasing pollination throughout North Carolina! You can visit the sunflower fields for free at 1030 Richardson Drive in Raleigh!
Hill Ridge Farms annual sunflower festival will begin Saturday July 17th and run until Sunday August 22nd! The Sunflower Festival hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00am-8:00pm. With each paid admission you receive a free sunflower! Admission is $14 per person for ages 2-64 and $13 for ages 65+ and military! At the Hill Ridge Farms sunflower festival, you will be able to enjoy a covered wagon ride from the patch. You will need to bring your own clippers to cut your own sunflowers! It is $1 per sunflower you cut and $1 for 2 Zinnias. The sunflower fields are CASH ONLY so make sure you come prepared! There will also be different food trucks throughout the month of the festival! You can enjoy food such as burgers, pizzas, and more from different participating local food trucks!
