Local Indoor Activities

It’s almost the end of February, and combined with winter and the coronavirus pandemic, cabin fever is bound to be hitting your house pretty hard. In the Town of Wake Forest and surrounding areas, there are numerous indoor activities to get you out of the house and away from the cold! Here are some EXCITING local indoor activities to check out!

 

Polar Ice House

Now heading to the rink to ice skate isn’t necessarily getting you out of the cold…but at least it’s voluntary!! The Polar Ice House in Wake Forest is the PERFECT place to enjoy a fun family skate! Their weekday public skate general admission fee is $10 per person and $15 per person Friday nights, weekends, and holidays. The Polar Ice House is making sure that you not only have a fun time skating, but that you are also staying safe doing so during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They are requiring all participants to wear masks on the ice and around their facility. If you want to attend you must also register and buy a ticket online which you can access their registration on their website!! You can visit the Wake Forest Polar Ice House at 1839 South Main Street, located inside the factory. The Polar Ice House is also in other areas throughout the triangle including Cary, Garner, and Morrisville!

 

Strike and Barrel

Located at 413 Brooks Street in Downtown Wake Forest, Strike and Barrel is the picture-perfect local bowling alley. This bowling alley is currently the only bowling alley in Wake Forest and is the perfect establishment for all events and ages. Their hours of operation and pricing include Monday-Friday from 1pm-10pm. Lane Rentals Monday-Friday are $25 an hour but starting at 5pm Friday, Saturday 11am-10pm, and Sunday 12pm-10pm, lane rentals are $30 an hour. You can also play by game Monday through Friday (ending at 5pm on Friday) where it is $5 a game per person! If you don’t have your own bowling shoes, that’s okay! Strike and Barrel has shoe rental for only $3.50 a pair! While you’re here you can sit back, relax, have fun with family and friends, and enjoy some of their DELICIOUS refreshments they have to offer!

 

Marquee Cinema

Going to the movies is an exciting way to escape the cold and shake off your cabin fever. Marquee Cinemas here in Wakefield, located at 10600 Common Oaks Drive, has all the hit movies of the year ready for you to enjoy! Grab your family, purchase your ticket, and pick up your essential movie snacks and escape the cold for a bit!! Ticket prices vary based on age. For adults it is $12, seniors and children $9.50, and military is $11. Masks are required when walking around the facility, but upon seating you can remove it to enjoy your refreshments!

 

The Tumble Gym

The Tumble Gyms open gym is a fun place for your children to run around, play, and blow off some of that crazy pent up energy from being inside. For $5 an hour per child, the gym is their jungle gym! The Tumble Gym staff are sanitizing the gym and wearing masks in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. When in the facility, you and your child must also wear a mask. You can visit the Wake Forest Tumble Gym, located in the Factory at 1839 South Main Street  for open gym Fridays from 9:30-12:30, Saturdays from 9:30-12:30, and Sundays from 12:30-3:30. Epic Axe

For 1.5 hours for $39 a person, you can head over to Epic Axe for a THRILLING session of axe throwing! While you’re there, you can also enjoy food and drink from their in house bar! First time axe throwing? That’s okay! You can talk to them about getting a coach for your session! You can visit the Wake Forest Epic Axe located at 1839 South Main Street, suite 10 inside of the Factory! You can also check out their Downtown Raleigh location located inside Morgan Street Food Hall!

 

Drive Shack

You don’t have to be an experienced golfer to go to Drive Shack! At Drive Shack you are guaranteed a unique golfing experience!! Instead of lugging around a huge golf bag with tons of clubs, you can lounge around, hang with family and friends, enjoy some yummy food and launch golf balls off a ledge without the pressure of your golf handicap looming over you! You can visit Drive Shack at 6901 Play Golf Way in Raleigh, Monday-Friday from 10am-10pm and Saturday-Sunday from 9am-10pm. Prices vary based on the time and how many guests!
